Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments also known as AEPA are some exams designed to value if someone has the right skills to become an educator. The AEPA tests the general teaching abilities and is usually required if you want to become a certified teacher. The AEPA series contains a variety of topics, such as dance, art, chemistry, history,math, music, social studies, etc.
Each test has between 90-150 key questions, but there are also tests in which you have to write essays. You have five hours to finish the exam. The maximum score is 300, but you have to reach, at least 240 to pass the exam. If you want to register for this exam, you need to have prove that you have taken some educator preparation programs, or that you have some experience in the domain. You can register for the AEPA Exam online, on their website, by phone , or by mail. Of course,you have to pay the required taxes. You may also have to pay some other taxes that are required, but more information about the taxes, locations or dates, can be found on their website.
This exam is divided in some categories, to find out better your abilities and skills.
The first is “Professional Knowledge Tests”, which has three levels: early childhood,elementary and secondary. All the students who wants to apply for a teacher certificate have to pass this exam. The professional knowledge tests will evaluate your pedagogical knowledge and abilities , and it has 100 key questions.
The second is “Subject Knowledge Tests”, which is absolutely needed if you want to obtain a certification. These tests are made to find out what you know about the specific subject.
There are also the “Administrator Tests”,which is made of 100 key questions and a writing part, and the “Basic Skills Test”, but which is not obligatory, but anyway, it is better if you take it.
